The Add filters extension is a strange one. On one hand it does exactly what it says on the tin but on the other it does alot more and the way an author uses it suggests it actually has an entirely different set of capabilities that starts to look like Zone Visibility.
Tableau Release Notes
The Add Filters Extension lets dashboard authors customise which filters are visible on a dashboard. Empower dashboard consumers to customise the dashboard by adding filters that meet specific needs. It aids in faster exploration of data without the need to contact the original author to drive change requests for adding desired filters to the dashboard and reduces the visual clutter of irrelevant filters.
Add Filters is an object that authors add to their dashboards, which then opens up this new capability for consumers. Once end-users have a filter configuration that suits their needs, they can create a custom view to save their work.
