Notion now supports Tableau Embeds natively.

In today's blog post, we'll discuss how the integration of Tableau and Notion has made it possible to create impressive data portfolios, allowing you to curate and showcase your work in a more organised and visually appealing way. The recent update in Notion that enables seamless embedding of private Tableau dashboards has made it much easier to showcase your data visualisations, potentially making Notion the go-to platform for creating data portfolios.

Previously, embedding a Tableau public visualisation in Notion required several steps and was far more complicated. However, Notion has made significant improvements, simplifying the process. To embed a Tableau public visualisation now, all you need to do is copy the link to the viz, create an embed block in Notion, and paste the link. The visualisation will then load automatically.

One of the great things about Notion is its flexibility, allowing you to adjust the sizing of the embedded window to suit your needs. Just be mindful of the space the visualisation is supposed to occupy, as making the viz smaller than required may result in it being cut off. Nevertheless, Notion now offers one of the nicest ways to embed a Tableau public viz.

While the same steps should work for Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server links, there might be some bugs or issues preventing it from loading correctly. However, the Notion post announcing this feature shows that it should work seamlessly. If you manage to successfully embed a Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server link, let us know and share your experience.

This update has opened up new possibilities, making Notion an even more flexible and powerful tool for displaying data visualisations. With its customisation options, Notion could quickly become the number one platform for creating data portfolios. This is particularly exciting for professionals who want to showcase their data visualisation skills in an organised and visually appealing manner.

While Tableau Public profiles are a great platform to display your data visualizations, there are times when you might want more control over what is visible, especially when sharing your work with job recruiters or during interviews. Notion's flexibility allows you to curate your data visualisations and present them in context.

To start building your data portfolio in Notion, create a new page and set it to full width. Embed your Tableau visualisations using the embed feature and adjust the sizing as needed. You can then add headings, text, and other content to provide context for your visualisations, showcasing your skills and the techniques you used.

Notion also offers toggle lists that enable you to organize multiple visualisations under a single heading, making it easier for viewers to explore your work. When users click on the toggle, they can interact with the embedded visualisations and better understand your techniques.

In addition to embedding Tableau visualisations, you can also link to blogs, videos, and other resources you've created, making your Notion data portfolio a comprehensive showcase of your skills and achievements. This customisable platform enables you to tailor your portfolio to your specific needs and present your work in the best light possible.
