The second release of 2024 is here and it's packed with platform defining features.
In Tableau 24.2, a new feature called Tableau Agents (formerly Einstein Copilot) is available exclusively on Tableau Cloud. It provides a contextual, AI-driven chat interface that assists in creating visualisations by analysing data and suggesting charts or performing calculations. While some of its capabilities, like generating dual-axis charts, mirror Tableau’s existing “Show Me” feature, Tableau Agents aims to streamline the user experience through natural language queries. However, there are still limitations in understanding complex requests, such as filtering across multiple years. Additionally, the rebranding from “Einstein Copilot” to “Tableau Agents” has caused some confusion, especially as it reflects a broader Salesforce branding strategy. The feature is promising but requires further refinement, particularly in its UX design and query handling, to be fully effective.
